Well, it has been a super long time since I have had the chance to write a blog post! I originally had it set up to automatically update my blog weekly with my emails home so everyone could follow my mission, however somehow, from when I left to when I returned, my blog was brutally hacked, and daily posts filled with highly inappropriate things were being posted. So, not only was my blog removed from public view to protect anyone from seeing things they didn't expect, but I also lost half of my blog posts! I will admit, that makes me pretty sad, because the journey of preparing for my mission was rather entertaining, and I had some really intense emotions, that were accurately depicted through my writing.
Its funny to me that whatever hacker got ahold of my blog, chose pornography as the weapon of choice. Satan is real, and this generation is more prepared to handle his attacks. Because of this he has to gear up, and use things we utilize for good, and twist them just enough to have them become the very thing that traps us. While on my mission, going from Oshkosh back to Menasha, there was a set of billboards, about 12 of them, lined up one after the other on the highway. 10 of them were advertising an "adult superstore" and two of them, mingled in the rest, were signs that said, "Porn Kills Love", and "Christ can heal addiction".
It was always a subject of conversation between my companion and I, and something I pondered quiet often. How come, the billboards that promoted anything remotely good, were trumped by a disgusting advertisement? Isn't the rule that good always overrules bad? In the end, of course it does. We all know who will win the war. However, serving a mission made it ever so apparent that Satan will fight just as hard as we will, and he will be relentless.
In The Book of Mormon, there is a story in Alma 43, about Moroni and how he prepares his people for war. Moroni, believing and trusting that Alma was a prophet, sends some of his men to ask Alma about the enemy. It is applicable now, in our day, to turn to our prophets, both ancient and modern, to know how the enemy is going to strike. We have been warned about pornography, we have been guided by good, honest, faithful servants of the Lord to strengthen our faith and to not "touch the unclean things".
I am half asleep right now, so I intend to have better blog posts, but I wanted to leave you all with my testimony of God and His watchful eye. He can and will lead us away from temptation. Christ is our healing aid, and anything Satan throws at our way can be fought, Remember who won the war when He was slain on the cross. Remember who directs our path.
I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ, and the protection I receive from His spirit.
